    Dr. D. S. Sengar is a Professor of Law and the founder Chairman, Legal Management Area at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow since 1999. With a vast experience of more than 35 years in academics, administration, law and management in India and abroad, Prof Sengar has been the Director, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi; the Vice-Chancellor,  Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur ( Rajasthan)  and the Joint Director, Academy of Administration, Nainital. He is an institution builder, academic leader as well as an academic administrator with the knowledge and experience of handling academic, administrative, regulatory, vigilance and financial issues.

    Prof Sengar has handled successfully responsible task of the Chief Vigilance Officer; Chairman, Student Affairs; Chairman, Placement and the Founder Chairman, Committee for Social Initiatives at IIM Lucknow. Prof. Sengar has been the Member, Steering Committee of Planning Commission of India on Environment & Forest and the Member, Restatement of Law Committee of Supreme Court of India.

    As a researcher, Prof Sengar has made several contributions in the area of law, environment and, management. Having contributed more 100 publications/ presentations in the form of authored and edited books, book chapters and  articles in leading journals and paper presentations in national and international conferences, Prof. Sengar has made academic contributions/ visits to more than 40 Institutions in 10 countries including U.S.A, U.K., Canada and Sweden. Prof. Sengar has authored a book on Environmental Law and edited a book on Public Interest Litigation along with Judges from High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

    Prof. Sengar’s teaching and research interest areas include: Corporate Law,  Management and Governance; Trade Practices and Competition Law; Consumer Protection and Law; Environmental Law, Management and Sustainable Development; Business Ethics; Corporate Social Responsibility; Disaster Management; Water Resource Management;  Renewable Energy and Climate Change; Intellectual Property Management;  Cyber Law; Labour Laws;  Contract Management and Negotiation; Dispute Resolution and Arbitration and Legal Risk Management etc.

     A Senior Fulbright Fellow Prof. Sengar has been Post-doctoral Scholar at George Washington University, Washington DC, USA. He was also the Post-doctoral Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Fellow at Canadian Institute of Resources Law, University of Calgary, Canada. He also received Fulbright Alumni Grant Award from the US Government for creating Enviro-legal awareness amongst Indian youth.

    Prof Sengar has obtained his doctoral degree in the field of Environmental Law from the University of Lucknow as a UGC Teacher Fellow. He obtained his Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Law and the Master of Law (LL.M.) from the University of Lucknow. Prof. Sengar received his executive education at Harvard Law School, USA.
