MGNF

Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) is a flagship program launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with IIMs as academic partner. IIM Lucknow had the largest cohort of fellows with 51 fellows in Uttar Pradesh 11 in Himachal Pradesh, 11 in Mizoram, and 32 in Assam completing the two-year certificate program in Public Policy and Management.

The objective of the program is to strengthen the district skill landscape of the country through the effective and collaborative engagement of Fellows. By the end of the program the District Skill Committees must function as an effective organization being able to plan, implement and monitor skill development initiatives.

MGN Fellowship aims to create a cadre of individuals who can contribute to the strengthening of the district-led skill ecosystem. This will help in supporting the district administration to improve skill development program delivery as well as develop a cadre of committed and competent development leaders.

The program overall included 660+ Fellows in different districts with nine IIMs as an academic partner including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Jammu, Kozhikode, Nagpur, Ranchi, Udaipur, and Visakhapatnam.

We are happy to share with you the e-copy of Skill Se समृद्धि, a compilation of some inspiring initiatives of MGNF-IIM Lucknow. Over the past two years, the implementation of the MGNF program at IIM Lucknow has led to some remarkable and unique initiatives on the ground and fostering a sustained dialogue of skill development at various levels. With the successful completion of program with IIM Lucknow, this compilation takes us through this journey and recognizes some of the most inspiring initiatives across four states including Assam, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The Valedictory Ceremony of the MGNF program at IIM Lucknow was conducted on October 28, 2023. Shri Durga Shanker Mishra, Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.

During the ceremony, 105 fellows were awarded the Certificate in Public Policy and Management, with 51 from Uttar Pradesh, 32 from Assam, 11 from Mizoram, and 11 from Himachal Pradesh. All the Fellows were given the certificate of successful completion of the program, grade sheets of two year and appreciation letters during the ceremony.

Ms. Bhavana Das deployed in Udalguri district of Assam secured first position and Ms. Pallavi Dhiman deployed in kolasib district of Mizoram and Ms. Anuradha Nirwan deployed in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh secured second and third positions in the MGNF cohort respectively.

A significant highlight of the event was the unveiling of a special coffee table book titled ‘Skill Se Samridhhi,’ documenting some of the most inspiring initiatives carried out by the fellows during their engagement in this program.

In addition to this, some fellows also participated in the MSDE program of special address by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on October 31, 2023. The fellows along with Prof. Archana Shukla, Director, IIM Lucknow, Prof. Ajay Garg and Prof. Kshitij Awasthi, Program Directors of MGNF and the entire program team attended the online program of MSDE from the campus.

The Institute is proud to share that one of our Fellows, Nidhi Bariha , deployed in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh was selected by MSDE to share her experience on the fellowship and the initiatives in the district. She shared her journey during the program with specific mention of facilitating better livelihood opportunities for the Moonj artisans in the district which has been well appreciated.
