    Associate Professor
    Agribusiness Management



    Kushankur Dey is an Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and joined the institute in September 2019 as an Assistant Professor in Agribusiness Management Area. He has held the Chairmanship at the Centre for Food & Agribusiness Management of IIM Lucknow from September 21, 2020, to September 20, 2022. Before joining IIM Lucknow, he served in the faculty of IIM Bodh Gaya, and a few private B-Schools.

    Dey is a Fellow in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management Anand and a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Centre for Management in Agriculture at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

    Dey has 25-odds peer-reviewed research articles to his credit that have appeared in international and national journals, namely Electronic Markets, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Behavioural and Experimental Finance, Journal of Rural Studies, Economic and Political Weekly, Applied Economics Letters, Cogent Economics and Finance, Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies, International Journal of Trade and Global Markets, International Journal of Financial Markets and Derivatives to name a few. He has about 100-odd Op-Eds and columns that appeared in Hindu Business Line, Financial Express, Business Standard, Odisha POST, Indian Management, and Business World. Dey has several book chapters and teaching cases to his credit, including the Asian Journal of Management Cases, Ivey Publishing, SAGE Business Cases, Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies, and Asian Case Research Journal. Dey is a reviewer of several peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Rural Studies, Technovation, Journal of Cleaner Production, IIMB Review, Vikalpa, Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies, and Climate and Development, to name a few.

    He has undertaken several funded research and consultancy projects, namely concurrent evaluation of Minimum Support Price-based foodgrains procurement in Uttar Pradesh, concurrent evaluation of National Food Security Act Phase II for Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand, stakeholders' survey of mentha oil futures market at the auspices of Multi Commodity Exchange of India, evaluation study of grant-based financing for cluster development of MSMEs, and impact evaluation of blended financed Climate-Smart Agriculture, climate risk-induced potential-linked credit plan for the NABARD for Jhansi of Uttar Pradesh funded by the GIZ India, and the World Bank Group (IBRD) sponsored assessment of the marketing strategies of the state-owned milk federation projects, economic viability and sustainability of Take Home Ration service units promoted by the National/ State Rural Livelihoods Mission, and the NABARD-sponsored study on FPOs' credit linkage with financial institutions between 2017 and up until now. Notably, The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare funded a research study titled Farmers' participation in India's futures market: potential, experience and constraints is one of his long-drawn research works brought out by Springer Nature in association with the Centre for Management in Agriculture of IIMA in August 2021.

    Dey is a National Resource Person for the National Rural Livelihood Mission appointed in 2018, and he is a member nominated by the Director of IIM Lucknow in CII–Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence National Council on Agriculture for 2024–25.
