IIM Lucknow invites bright, innovative, and dedicated scholars to join our institute to shape the future of Artificial Intelligence and management education. We are looking for talented faculty members with an outstanding academic record, demonstrated ability in high-quality research, and commitment to teaching for faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor (Grade I/ II) in the broad area of Artificial Intelligence and related disciplines.
The CEI (RTC) Act (2019) for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS categories as well as the RPwD Act (2016) for persons with benchmark disabilities will be applicable. Candidates should upload their valid SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS certificates issued by the appropriate authority in the prescribed format of Government of India, along with the application. The extent of reservation will be as follows: SC-15%; ST-7.5%; OBC(NCL)-27%; EWS-10%; PwBD-4%. Women candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Foreign nationals will be appointed on contract basis, initially for 5 years. The contract can be renewed after the 5-year tenure gets over. Half time appointments are possible for foreign nationals who are not on OCI status. Those applying as foreign nationals will need to get a work visa from the Government of India.
Basic qualification and experience for the posts are given in section 2. Age should be preferably below 35 years, and any relaxation in age will be applicable as per the Government of India norms.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have Ph.D. with first class at the preceding degree or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the appropriate area with a very good academic record throughout.
Assistant Professor (Grade I) A minimum of three years teaching/ research/ professional experience as on the date of application, excluding the experience gained while pursuing PhD. At the entry level, s/he may be placed in Academic Level 12 and on satisfactory completion of 3 years of service as Assistant Professor Grade I, s/he shall move to Academic Level 13A1. |
Assistant Professor (Grade II) Candidate not eligible for Assistant Professor Grade I may be appointed as Assistant Professor Grade II. At the entry level s/he may be placed in the Academic Level 10 or 11 with appropriate pay based on post Ph.D. experience. After 3 years in Academic Level 10 & 11 together, s/he may be brought on regular position as Assistant Professor Grade I in Academic Level 12. |
Research and Publication Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong publication record in top-tier peer-reviewed Journals and/ or leading International Conferences in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related areas.
- Evidence of independent, high-quality research relevant to their field and potential for sustained scholarly contributions.
Pay Structure and Benefits
The pay structure and allowances will be as per Government of India norms applicable to Centrally Funded Institutions. The basic pay and pay level details are as follows:
Assistant Professor (Grade I) Academic Level 12 (Rs.1,01,500 - Rs.1,67,400) For Direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Matrix to be fixed at Rs.1,01,500/ p.m. |
Assistant Professor (Grade II) Academic Level 10 (Rs. 57,700 - Rs. 98,200). For Fresh recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Matrix to be fixed at Rs.84,700/ p.m. Academic Level 11 (Rs. 68,900 - Rs. 1,17,200) One year post Ph.D. Experience– Rs.89,900/ p.m. Two years post Ph.D. Experience– Rs.92,600/ p.m. |

OTHER SUPPORT FOR PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT OF FACULTY
- Journal Publication Award ranging from Rs. 94,000 to 15 lacs is provided on the basis of category of journal.
- A Grant of Rs. 5.00 lacs are admissible to each faculty member for attending International Conferences in a block of three years. In addition, two National Conferences in a year are also admissible.
- Consultancy and Professional activities are encouraged.
- Faculty members are entitled to Rs.1 lac per annum as Faculty Development Allowance.
- Faculty members are funded for attending Harvard Business School Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning every year.
- Radha Krishnan Gopalan Young Faculty Researcher Award is given to promote excellence in research.
- Various Chair professorships such as Ishwar Dayal Chair Professor, BPCL Chair Professor, ONGC Chair Professor are instituted to promote.
- Faculty Members and their dependents are eligible for Leave Travel Concession (LTC)
- Faculty members are eligible for the Institute’s Children’s Education Allowance scheme.
- Various Loan facilities such as House Building, Computer Loan, Soft loan are provided by the Institute.
- Annual/ Life Membership fees for one national professional body/society per year.
- Membership fees for one international professional body/society to the extent of 75% of the actuals per year.
- Seed Money Grands are provided to faculty members.
- Academic and research support staff are provided to help faculty members in their Teaching, Research and Consultancy activities.
- Faculty Development Workshops are periodically organised
- Opportunities are provided to get involved in Management Development Programmes for Executives of various Central/State/Public/Private Sector organisation.
- Faculty members and their dependants covered a group Mediclaim Policy with a coverage Rs.10 lacs per annum.
- The Institute endeavours to provide suitable accommodation to all faculty subject to availability. For candidates leaving outside campus HRA as per government norms may be paid.
- Reimbursement of one-way economy class airfare from the place of posting or present address to Lucknow on first time joining the Institute.
- On joining the Institute, automatically become a member of Employees Welfare Committee (EWC) with a very nominal monthly fee through which you will be benefited with education loan, marriage loan as well as participation of various events and picnic
- Young Faculty Research Award' of Rs.1 Lac per month as per institute norms
General Instructions
- Mere fulfilment of the qualifications and experience requirement laid down does not guarantee shortlisting.
- For regular appointment, there would be a probation period of 3 years.
- The Institute reserves the right to:

- Candidates employed in Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous Institutions must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview.
